My name is Matt Chisholm and I am happy to serve as the Principal at Central Valley Virtual Learning (CVVL) K-8. CVVL is an Alternative Learning Experience school that was developed to meet the varying needs of families and students in our community. Any student that lives within the Central Valley School District boundaries may enroll in our program. Even though we have the word “virtual” in our title, we are not your typical virtual program and provide one day (Thursday) of in-person instruction located at 1512 N. Barker. Attending this day is optional and up to the choice of the family. These Thursdays provide students the opportunity to socialize with peers, work on projects together and take field trips into the community.
All students are required to complete a schedule of virtual work that is given to them weekly by the teacher. Students are also required to meet with their teacher once a week. When the weekly work is completed is up to the family. Additionally, we offer optional opportunities for virtual support or involvement. This ranges from small group live Zoom instruction by their teacher to whole class Zoom meetings and social activities. Your child’s teacher will meet with you to build an individualized schedule. Families appreciate the flexibility of the CVVL scheduling.
The staff members at CVVL are high quality CVSD teachers who recognize that all students do not learn the same. We pride ourselves on being different than your normal brick and mortar school. We value partnering with parents to create an educational experience that meets the needs of the child and family. I feel very fortunate to be the principal of CVVL and welcome any further questions you may have (509) 558-5727.
CVVL, We make VIRTUAL a REALITY!
