ASVAB TEST PREP RESOURCES

Test Prep Study Guide (PDF Book)

Using a PDF study guide below can be a game-changer for your ASVAB prep, but only if you treat it like an interactive tool rather than just a long document to read. Since the ASVAB determines your eligibility to graduate, using your study guide efficiently is key. Here is how to get the most out of your PDF guide:
1. Master the Navigation

Don't just scroll endlessly. PDF readers have built-in tools to help you find what you need instantly:
  • Table of Contents: Most high-quality PDFs have "bookmarks" on the side. Click these to jump straight to sections like Arithmetic Reasoning or Word Knowledge.
  • Search Function: Press Ctrl + F (or Command + F on Mac) to search for specific terms. If you’re struggling with "fractions," type it in to find every mention in the guide.

2. Annotate and Mark Up

A PDF shouldn't be a "read-only" file. Use a PDF editor (like Kami) to:
  • Highlight Key Formulas: Highlight math formulas in one color and vocabulary words in another.
  • Add Sticky Notes: If you don't understand a paragraph, leave a digital sticky note to ask your teacher or recruiter about it later.
  • Hide Answers: When doing practice problems, scroll the page so the answer key is out of view, or place a digital "shape" over the answer while you solve the problem.

3. Focus on Your "AFQT" Categories

If your primary goal is to graduate or qualify for entry, prioritize the four sections that make up your Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT) score:
  1. Arithmetic Reasoning
  2. Mathematics Knowledge
  3. Word Knowledge
  4. Paragraph Comprehension

4. Use the "Split Screen" Method

Open your PDF on one half of your screen and a digital notepad, like Google Docs on the other.
  • Active Recall: Read a section, then try to summarize it in your own words on the other side without looking back at the PDF.
  • Mistake Tracking: Keep a list of every question you get wrong in the PDF practice tests so you know exactly what to study tomorrow.
